KG Industries Gunkote®
KG GunKote® was originally developed for use on military weapons that would be used in marine Environments. Military teams such as the US Navy SEALs needed a weapon coating that could withstand hours of abuse in a high salinity marine environment yet still resist corrosion and not impede the weapon’s function. KG GunKote® fit the bill perfectly and been used and tested on weapons that had to endure a 500-hour salt spray test yet still met strict machine gun firing requirements set by the military. GunKote® has become so successful in corrosive environments that it has spread into automotive and industrial fields; being used on items such as radiators, barrels, engine blocks, and oil coolers.
KG Gunkote® – What it is
GunKote® is not a paint or Powdercoating; instead it is an specialized hard molecular film that is bonded to the surface of whatever it is applied to. Unlike traditional Parkerization or bluing, GunKote is more chemical and abrasion resistant while requiring less care to prevent rusting. While being extremely durable GunKote also has self lubricating properties that come from PTFE (molybdenum) additives that prevent metal on metal contact even after standard weapons oils have failed or evaporated. Both the 2400 and 1600 Series formulations come with high concentrations of PTFE that allow our product to increase the service life and reliability of your weapon even in the harshest of environments.

Title 27 – Alcohol, Tobacco Products and Firearms
CHAPTER I-BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND FIREARMS, DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY
PART 178-COMMERCE IN FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
178.147 Return of Firearm:
“A person not otherwise prohibited by Federal, State or local law may ship a firearm to a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer for any lawful purpose, and notwithstanding any other provision of this part, the licensed manufacturer, licensed importer or licensed may return in interstate or foreign commerce to that person the firearm or a replacement of the same kind and type.”
This regulation allows you, the customer, to ship firearms to our shop for modification or repair and allows us to return your completed weapon back to your home without the need for going through another Federally Licensed Dealer, unless of course, you illegally posses the firearm.
We recommend that you ship your firearm through the United States Postal Service with priority service and full insurance for the total value of your firearm. This is the safest and most secure method to ship a firearm in the United States.
